Is there a discount to travel 12 times in one month from Florence to Rome.? I live with my girlfriend in Florence and have to go and come back from Rome 3 times a week for one year. Is there any package I could buy to save money?

Has anyone heard of this...? You sign up for like $150 and you get a travel agent card for discount travel...? I heard someone say today that they signed up with some place, and like for $150 you get a travel agent card and number so you can save a lot on hotel, flights, etc. Anyone know of any services like this, or know if they are real?

Will someone explain to me what the point of the travel websites are when the prices look like this:? Hotel business rates, just for business travellers, or can I use it for non-business stays? Yeah, I'm frugal. I've noticed, when looking through hotel websites, that the 'corporate rate' is many times cheaper than AAA or any other discount. If I'm travelling by myself (not for business), or with my family on vacation, can I take advantage of these rates too? What would qualify someone to use these rates, and do I need to show any corporate ID (I do work for a Fortune 500 company, so I have that, but never travel on business)? Travel cards: Seoul City plus and T Money? I'll be traveling to Seoul in September for 8 days. And I'm thinking about purchasing one of these for convenience. From what I understand by digging on the net, T Money helps save cost of transferring between lines. Seoul City plus on the other hand is a discount card with T Money. Public (bathroom) water safe to rinse coffee mug? I go to a university and I am at the university from 9AM until 6:30PM. In the morning, at home, I fill my coffee travel mug with coffee and drink it. My university has a coffee shop. So when I need coffee later in the day, I buy a cup of coffee and go to a different location and then pour it from the cup to my mug so it stays insulated. If I use my own mug, I get a discount and save $0.60 on a cup of coffee ($0.99 compared to $1.59). Rather than take in a dirty mug into the coffee shop, I'd rather rinse it first. The bathroom in my university's library has a long faucet spout. It is city water. Do you think the water would be safe/clean to rinse out my coffee mug? help with backpacker travel in europe? Here is the situation. I have a 10 places in 2 month Eurail pass that I have been using succesfully thus far. I am currently in Budapest with 4 travel days left on the pass. I want to make it to the greek Island of Ios (which I have been told from Budapest will definitely use up 2 trips) as well as Madrid or Barcelona. I was wondering if anyone could figure out how I could due this while saving as much money as possible. I know my Eurail pass gets me a discount on the Ferry to Ios but I couldn't find anything that indicated how much they would cost in the first place. As well, getting to Spain from Greece seems like a task. I originally wanted to see Italy but am ready to scrap that if it saves me money. Railway travel in Spain? Sure, I have guide books, but I'm new at this and it would mean a lot to hear from someone with experience. I'm going to Barcelona this fall to study... after my course is over, though, I would like to visit some other places in Spain... Andalucía and others. Please help! Dollars to bring for 1 week? I am going to give as much detail about my trip as possible, because I am starting to get worried I did not save enough money. With a college class of 20 or so people, I am traveling to London for 3 days, Brussels for 3 days, and Paris for a day trip. Airfare from the US to London and back is already paid for as well as accommodations. I am a very light spender and plan on splitting meals with friends (breakfast is provided at the hotel, so I will probably take some for snacking throughout the day). I am planning on buying a few souvenirs and drinking in moderation. After doing research on the railway system, I am worried that I did not save enough money. PLEASE ANSWER! my 11-15 oyster was confiscated and the appeal people won't reply, who should i mail then? Dear Sir / Madame I would like to talk to you about my daughter’s oyster card queries. TFL has refused to give her free travel concession because of an incident back in 2008 when she lost it. You could say that it was lost but someone else found it. Then, after a few days, my daughter got over the fear of telling me the truth meaning, like every child would – she was afraid of what I would say to her, what my reactions would be. I understand that these thoughts and questions run all over everyone’s mind. This caused a bit of a delay when applying for a new one because shortly, after hearing my daughter had lost her card I applied for a new oyster by calling TFL and they sent me another one with free travel concession. There onwards, things went horribly wrong and confusing. As, everything was fine, we didn’t have any problems with her oyster card until in 2009 – she lost it – from then, I called the TFL asking for a new oyster card for my daughter but to my surprise, they refused to – they asked me if my daughter had her oyster card taken away by the police or inspectors all of a sudden and I told them that she hadn’t misbehaved or showed any anti-social behaviour and they requested that I should “appeal”, so I did. But, after a day or two they sent me a letter saying that my appeal had not been successful as we had been warned to appeal back in 2008. I then replied to their letter, telling them that since we hadn’t received that warning letter in the first place we could not appeal at the right time but, they never replied back. So, it was all down to this appeal letter – that was when I realised that when my daughter lost her oyster card – we were about to move to a different place. We are not sure as it could be in our old home where someone else lives now but they weren’t very helpful as they did not tell us we had received any letters but TFL could also have done us a favour and gave us a ring to make it clear as they could’ve seen the possibilities that we could’ve moved, or the letter could’ve been delayed in the post or even lost. All, I want to say is that if I had received the letter from TFL telling us to appeal, I would’ve done so at the right time like I am doing so now. If you are still not convinced, please – think about my daughter. She isn’t the kind of person who wants to hurt or bully others; she is someone who wouldn’t hurt a fly. There may be laws and rules that are stronger than apologies but forgiveness couldn’t hurt a bit could it? I need help planning an Orlando vacation.? I've asked a question previously about this and the answers were somewhat helpful. However, they were not completly what I was looking for. Does anyone know of any Orlando hotels that provide transportation to the MCO Airport & Universal for sure?? I would possibly need transportation to Disney as well, but we are going there for one day so I am not too concerned. Which is better invisalign or braces? Ok so about a year ago I was playing football at school and one of my permanent teeth was fractured and now its healed problem is that its very crooked and so are my other teeth. My dad ever since I was 7 had this great idea of getting a dentist at least 300 hundred miles away from where we actually live( the dentist is my uncle or basically his brother and he wants to save money since his brother will give him a small discount and he wants to support his brother's clinic at the same time). But we have to travel all the way from San Jose to L.A. by car and we dont even go there every year so my teeth were in bad shape already to begin with since we go there about evrry 3 years. And his brother says that he'll give me invisalign for free since we can't get braces there cuz they have to be adjusted like every month and he doesnt wanna travel all they way there just to have them adjusted. Am i being unfair for trying to put away money for an engaged couple? Me and my fiance have been together for 4 1/2 years. During that time, i carried most of the fiancial burden ie. helping her with her bills, paying for trips(she did contribute to some) etc. We moved in together in dec., talking bout marriage, kids, building a life together. Because of my job, i pay no rent, so all we agreed she will do is pay the cable bill which again because of my job is discounted. RRSP in Canada, how much saving is enough? I'm single, mid 30's and make 100k to 120k a year. Everybody says "save as much as you can". Well, I've been able to save up to 70% of my paycheck. But I don't have a car, rent a bachellor, don't have TV, don't have cell phone, buy all stuff in discounts, never eat outside. I have two jobs and no time for living. MIL to be wants us to change the date.? Our wedding is on November 27th. We purposly planned it the day after Thanksgiving, after talking to many of our family members and close friends. what benefits can an 18 year old apprentice claim? I am 18 and have just applied for a catering apprenticeship at a local cafe. I have been told to expect £95 per week and will be working/learning full time. I am currently claiming JSA as I am unemployed and looking for work and receive about £50 per week and have no rent or council tax to pay. I live with my disabled mother and although i currently pay her no rent have been told i will have to once i start working since her housing benefit will be reduced when i start earning. She says i will be liable to make up the difference which will be around £30 per week. In addition I will have to start paying council tax once i begin working and although she is disabled i believe it means i will still be liable for the full amount myself. I looked at my local council website to find my council tax band will cost me £1334 per year, I think i will be able to claim a 25% discount on this however this still works out around £1134 per year. My new workplace is 7 miles away and the cost of a bus there and back each day will be £4.80. I have tried to work out my costs each week based on what i have mentioned above: Rent - £30 Council Tax - £21.80 Travel - £24 Total - £75.80 This leaves me a little less than £20 per week from my £95 and I havent even begun to start factoring in other costs such as my lunch while at work. Potential long term consequences (especially on kids) of working & living far away from them for ~ two years? My wife and I both feel that we got married and started having kids too soon. There's nothing we can do about that now, but there is one very bright silver lining; we still have a very good relationship with each other, and we are committed to our marriage and to our family. That said, here's the situation I'm facing now, and I would appreciate any wisdom you would care to impart. My wife and I are blessed with two wonderful kids, who are ~3 and ~1 yrs old. As much as I adore them, I am considering living away from them for about two years. The situation is complicated (as you'll see below if you read on), but in a nutshell, I have recently been offered a great job on another coast. If I take this job across the country from them, I would make about $95,000. By my standards I consider that to be a Lot of money, especially considering that I would be living in a rural area with a low cost of living. The attractive salary is appealing mostly because of the sound financial footing it could put my family on (more on that later). It also happens to be a dream job, from a career perspective. If I move out there to take this job, I would plan to live reasonably (I know how to live on $35,000, and would plan to have the lifestyle of a responsible person making that much) so that I could save some money - all while providing a modest but decent (and improved - starting with a decent used minivan in place of the compact car we're driving now) standard of living for my family back home. My wife and kids, by the way, have a great support system back home, anchored by my wonderful and very supportive parents-in-law, who run a daycare. My wife is not willing to relocate. But if I do take this job, my wife and kids would come to be with me when she has vacation, which would be at least 3 weeks (and possibly 7 weeks for reasons that I don't need to get into) every year. I would spend all of my vacation time in our 'hometown', so this all adds up to at least 6 weeks together every year (possibly 10 weeks, again for reasons that aren't important). I realize that that is not much or even enough time together, but at the same time, it would be a far cry from never seeing each other. Also, traveling back and forth would not be a huge expense for us because we are eligible for discounted airfare due to a family airline connection - this would allow us to save even more money - and saving money of course would be one of the main justifications for living apart. But saving money just for the sake of it is definitey Not the goal here (niether my wife nor I are very materialistic, in my estimation). Due to our working and (what I consider to be) our fiscally responsible lifestyle, neither my wife nor I have any debt any longer - however we don't have much money, either (to give you an idea - she and the kids have been living with her parents, while I have been working temporary but reasonably well-paying jobs away from home). There would be two main justifications for my taking this job. Number one is that it provides an opportunity to stock away a moderate amount of money, in a relatively short period of time, for the purpose of putting a down payment on a modest but decent home in a couple of years - and to achieve a basic level of financial stability. Secondly (not as important but still important) it provides me an opportunity to work a great job in my field of study (I just graduated last year, and honestly I would consider it a big sacrifice to give up my career this early after graduating - and an important point here is that jobs in my career really don't exist yet in our hometown). I would plan to return to our hometown to live in about two years, at which point our kids would be 5 and 3, I'd be there when our oldest begins school, and it is generally expected that by that time, jobs in my field will be more widely available in our 'hometown'. As far as getting a job closer to home now, I could probably arrange that, but it would almost certainly pay less than half of what I could make at this job that I'm considering that is far away from them, and at present my field of work is virtually non existent in our 'hometown', so I would have to change careers or (more likely) or take a job that has little meaning to me (btw the debt that I recently got out of was mostly incurred getting an education in the field that I now have an opportunity to work in). And btw I'm not implying that my career is more important than spending time with my kids - please remember that one of the major motivations for taking the far away job would be to provide a better life for all of us. What is the etiquette in this situation? Please, this is a theoretical situation, however, I have been in a situation just like it before. Let's say that there is couple A and couple B. Couple A and B are going to be traveling together to an exotic location for a few weeks. They have their minds set on where they want to stay and have priced different hotels in the area. All of the hotels and resorts in the area are in the range of $500 per night, per room even with the largest discount they can get. However, one of the people in couple A has been able to secure some connections through work and can get the 2 rooms for only $70 a night (no joke!). Couple A calculates out the numbers and they see that they have saved couple B over $4000 through their connections. Couple A requests that couple B pay for their portion of the hotel as well, since without them they would be spending thousands of dollars more and they would still be spending 1/4 of what they had planned to spend anyway. Is there any way you can save money on a rail season ticket? I read an article in the Guardian around January time that said if you bought a train season ticket in the South of England, you were then entitled to a 'Gold Card' which allowed you to save a third on subsequent season tickets. Obviously Mr. T doesn't travel much. Just to double check though, I ran my next three flights, differing times places and advanced notice thru you suggestion. First of all it only connects you with other sites????? Big Deal I can do that. Secondly, not one website off of bookingbuddy was cheaper than what I paid. In fact every site, no exceptions, every flight was more than going to the airline website directly because I saved all the hidden fees. Two off of bookingbuddy charged fees of $25 or more. For what? I agree there are chances to save - bulk for instance, and in one case a friend used two different airlines and saved a little money, but scheduling was much better. Otherwise I can't find any benefit by using these sites. I was hoping someone had a site with real savings, but I guess they don't exist. Again Mr T's, I proved your smartazz remark was wrong. UK Train Travel; cheapest option? Hi, I need to travel between Whyteleafe Rail Station and New Cross Gate every weekday (mon-fri). On 2 of these days I will need to travel in Peak Time (before 9:30), on the remaining 3 days I will be travelling off peak. I need to be able to get there and back (so return fares). I will not be going via London or Underground. My question is; what's the cheapest option I have. How much would it cost to get a weekly / monthly ticket? Would it work out cheaper just to buy them on the day (as I only travel peak 2 days)? Would it work out cheaper to buy a Young Person's Railcard (16-24) as I'm entitled to one? From what I'm aware the Young Person's has a minimum discount fare of £12, so surely i'd get no discount on low fares. At the moment the standard fares I pay on the day are: £6.40 Return Peak £4.40 Return off-Peak is there a cheaper option to buying each ticket on the day? If so, how much is the potential saving and what would it entail?

This scheme can be used to help a lot of towns in the Midwest. It would be like you rent a car in Cleveland. The Alamo Rental car in Cleveland includes a free coupon if you meet certain timeframes. The coupon value is 50% off any BP gas station in Akron. Now you can save money on a trip to Akron and if you don't, you end up paying a barely noticeable fee split between Akron's BP gas station and Alamo. And they'd make money. If you buy gas in Akron, the town of Akron may see an increase in consumer spending, so it becomes a win win. The industry would profit because significant numbers of travelers would wind up not redeeming the coupon because of inconvenience, and they probably wouldn't care. Edit: but this isn't a deviation from supply and demand. This is a promotional coupon! It's like when you have a call option on a stock or a buy one get one free. It's purely a business friendly idea.

When will real estate agents become extinct? Will real estate agents soon go the way of travel agents? Do you see a time coming good when everyone will be a for sale by owner by default, because commissions got so low that everyone got out of the business. That's how its getting here in Chicago. Discounters have it down so low that it absolutely isn't even worth the bother and headaches of listing. They are discounting down to $1400 a deal list wise. To me, it isn't worth getting crabby calls for 45-60 days from sellers, and all the loan and other problems, let alone showing the house constantly, for $1400 dollars. At that point, not even worth doing for side money. I wonder how many agents are saying enough already, getting sick of seeing desperate teeeming masses of new agents dropping commissions lower and lower, and getting out of the biz altogether. Once everyone FSBO's, no one will save money cause there is nothing to compare it to, and prices will find their own new level. SImilar to when gas went self-serve.

Where can we get a nice meal in Manhattan without breaking the bank? My boyfriend and I are taking a trip to NYC in April for a few days. We're not cheapskates, but we know dining in New York can cost a pretty penny. We're planning to get the CityPass to save on admission to the museums and such, and we know that part of that is a discount to certain restaurants in the Patina Group. But that's only going to cover a couple meals at most. We're trying to find some good, inexpensive, casual restaurants where we can eat dinner without spending $100 and don't have to dress up - we're planning to travel fairly light, which means other than our outfits for The Lion King, khakis are about as dressy as we'll be packing. Our hotel is located on W. 31st Street, a couple blocks away from Park Avenue (I believe that's part of Midtown?). It doesn't include breakfast, so if anyone knows of any places in that area where we can get breakfast for cheap, that'd help too.
